Project READ Literacy network is governed by a Board of Directors
elected from the membership. The Board guides the affairs and
direction of the organization. It consists of a maximum of 14
directors with seven coming from literacy agencies and the remainder
from our general membership. Directors are elected annually at
our Annual General Meeting in September.
Our membership categories include organizational and individual
members. Any individual, group or organization that is concerned
with literacy issues in Waterloo-Wellington can become members.
Membership dues are payable on an annual basis according to
the calendar year. An organizational membership is $60 and an
individual membership is $20. Please contact us about purchasing
a membership and member's rights.

Executive Network Director
- Anne Ramsay has worked in the adult literacy
field since 1989 starting as a tutor and program coordinator
in community-based literacy. Joining Project READ in
1994, Anne brought with her strong skills in planning,
facilitation, adult education and project management.
She is dedicated to life long learning and regularly
participates in professional development. Anne holds
Certificates in Adult and Continuing Education from University
of Victoria, Voluntary Sector Management from University
of Guelph and Volunteer Management from Conestoga College.
She has presented workshops in Canada, the United States
and England. Anne is an Alumni of Leadership Waterloo Region's Class of 2010.

Executive Program Director
- Jane Tuer assumed her position with Project READ
in April 2000 after nine years as Executive Director of
a community-based literacy agency. She is a certified Laubach
Trainer and Master Tutor who has conducted training workshops
across Canada with tutors and literacy practitioners. Jane
possesses expertise in Workplace Literacy, Essential Skills
and Assessment. She has also authored several Project READ
publications including Network Practitioner Training
Manual,
Building Our Capacity, Working Together,
Working Well and Circle of Literacy: A Collaboration
Guide.
Jane continues to take continuing education courses and
participates in professional workshops

Program Assistant
- Linda Parker joined Project READ in 2007 after graduating as an adult learner. Using her life experience, Linda is able to effectively relate to the adults who inquire about returning to training and education. Aside from referrals, Linda ensures that all administrative affairs are in order. She coordinates everything from special events and meetings to office administration and assessment appointments. Linda continuously participates in professional development to diversify her skills and knowledge.

Family Literacy Coordinator and Facilitator
- Lorri Sauve has been involved in adult literacy
since 1990 as both an instructor and then later as Program
Manager. She started doing family literacy workshops
for Project READ in 1999 and has continued in that capacity.
Since 2003, Lorri has also been coordinating and facilitating
the family literacy program Get Set Learn! run in partnership
with the Region of Waterloo. She is author of
several project READ publications including: Get
Set Learn: A Case Study, the Get Set Learn Curriculum
Package, Working Together Working Well and Circle
of Literacy: A Collaboration Guide. As a
lifelong learner herself, Lorri regularly attends professional
development workshops.

Educational Skills Assessor
- Ginny Carnevale began her career in adult literacy as a volunteer and content reader with Project READ's family literacy program Get Set Learn! (GSL). After a mentorship in 2007, Ginny joined Project READ as a Family Literacy Facilitator. Ginny is currently enrolled in the Teacher of Adults: Literacy Educator Certificate program at Conestoga College, and has participated in ongoing professional development, including CAMERA and EESA assessment certification. Ginny began helping Ontario Works clients discover new goals and pathways in June 2009, when she began working as Project READ'S Assessor. Using a holistic approach to assessment, Ginny strives to reduce barriers and increase opportunities for adults who need help improving their essential skills for school, work and life.

Family Literacy Facilitators
- Malgorzata (Gosia) Freiburger joined Project Read's Get Set Learn Program in spring 2008. Gosia has a degree in Applied Linguistics and gained her experience as an ESL instructor in Poland and the USA. Gosia has also been involved in helping newcomer children with their homework, reading, writing and basic math as a volunteer and helping newcomer adults in a conversation circle. Being a life long learner she intends to take courses in Adult Education at Conestoga College.
- Dorothy Fong became a facilitator for Project Read's Get Set Learn Program in spring 2009. Dorothy has a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. For 10 years, she worked as a freelance trainer/instructor for private companies in Singapore in the areas of reading and oral and written communication. She serves as a volunteer coordinator of the U of Waterloo International Spouses and as a judge at high school debate tournaments.
Project Consultants - Project READ contracts with individual consultants
for specific research and development projects as funding becomes
available. These projects are time-limited and goal-focused.
